The Global MDP SecretariatThe MDP Secretariat, based at the Sustainable Development Solutions Network' s SDG Academy, has multiple roles: administrator of the network of the MDP program; coordinator of new program admissions; designer and implementer of the Global Classroom; co-founder of the International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD); co-organizer and convener of the annual MDP global summit; coordinator of task forces on curriculum, evaluation, governance, field placements, and other topics; designer and maintainer of the MDP website and other social media tools; nurturer of relationships with partner organizations; fundraiser and liaison between funders and the Association; liaison with MDP students around the world—especially advocating for and facilitating their involvement in field research opportunities, such as with the International Fund for Agricultural Development; and promoter of the MDP program, its member schools, students, faculty, and alumni.The MDP at Tsinghua UniversityLaunched in 2007, the Master of Public Administration in International Development (MID) degree program at Tsinghua University’s School of Public Policy and Management is a two-year MPA program. It is designed to deliver a strong academics and practical foundation for students to become active global citizens and specialists in Chinese development. In 2009, Tsinghua University was selected by the Master’s of Development Practice (MDP) program, created by the MacArthur Foundation in the United States, as one of the ten universities worldwide, and the only university in China, to launch a Master’s program with the goal of cultivating a new generation of international development professionals. While the program is located in Beijing, China, the MID Program harnesses a unique experiences of development from an international perspective with emphasis on sustainable development and Chinese practices.
