The Australian Spitfire Association was founded by the pilots of Squadrons 452 and 457 RAAF, Squadron 54 RAF, and 7 RSU RAAF. Originally a World War II veterans’ association, today we stand as a dynamic force dedicated to ensuring that the legacy of our past continues to strengthen Australia’s future. In this way, we carry the spirit of the founders forward in the work we do today.We champion innovation and resilience by funding research, technology, and defence capabilities through the Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship (SMDF) and other national initiatives. Our mission is to uphold the pioneering spirit of our founders while making a measurable impact on Australia’s security, resilience, and technological advancement.
