The Links, Incorporated, established in 1948, is one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Membership consists of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom.The Roanoke (VA) Chapter of The Links, chartered in 1950, is one of the first 13 chapters of The Links, Incorporated. Since its founding, the Roanoke (VA) Chapter has devoted countless hours of service to making our communities healthier and more vibrant places to live, work and play.The chapter is soundly invested in developing and executing programs and activities that adhere to the tenets of the outstanding programming of The Links, Inc. At its core are five facets that include: National Trends and Services, The Arts, Services to Youth, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. The goal of our organization is to offer – largely, through the programming of these five facets – services that positively impact and uplift both children and adults in our communities, as well as our nation.
