The Calgary Police Rodeo is an amateur competition featuring contestants throughout Canada and the USA. It was originally founded in 1982, and was the first police rodeo in Canada.As of 2011, the rodeo was also opened up to participants from other first responder communities. Firefighters, Paramedics, Peace Officers, and immediate family members, can now compete in the rodeo.The rodeo is a not-for-profit event that raises funds for charities such as the Missing Children's Society of Canada and the John Petropolous Memorial Fund.
