WHAT IS BDCUGH FUNDRAISING INC.?HistoryThe Association was established as a Community/Business Partnership in 2008.It is a community business partnership between Berrima District Credit Union (BDCU) and a committee of residents and businesspeople in the Goulburn-Mulwaree Shire.Goulburn district is a unique community comprising a host of rural, regional and town activities.Community life and welfare is dependent to a large extent on the work and care of Goulburn Base Hospital & Community Health.The hospital’s needs are extensive and we cannot rely totally on Government to fulfil those needs.The CommitteeThe Association is administered by a volunteer committee, which is comprised of BDCU representatives, local residents and volunteers who use their resources for the benefit of the Foundation.Aims• To assist in the refurbishment of Goulburn Base Hospital and provide support for other community health facilities as required.• To identify and implement health welfare support services for the Goulburn-Mulwaree communityFundraising GoalsThere are many items on a hospital wish-list. The Foundation is dedicated to providing these wish-list items as long as is necessary and expects that they will expand, change and require updating.MilestonesLaunch17 September 2008More than 300 people attended the official launch at Goulburn Workers Club. Speakers included Max Hadlow, Mathew Fruend and Kerry Hort. Donations received from community groups, individuals and businesses surpassed $3,000.Mile of Pennies4 July 2009The first official event involved a call for coin donations, which were lined end-to-end along Goulburn’s Auburn Street.Volunteers from the Police College and small businesses guarded the coins, which totalled $8,000.Mile of Pennies has become an annual event, held on the first Saturday of September. The most recent, raising over $5,000.Dancing with the Starz12 and 13 September 2009A performance dancing event wherein professional ballroom dancers were paired with well-known volunteers, including Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward. The couples performed rehearsed routines and were scored by a panel of judges.The event sold out within a few days of tickets being available and a second matinee performance was added. BDCGHF Inc. raised over $50,000 and the evening was described as one of Goulburn’s most successful ever events.Tour de France Night10 July 2010Movie Under the Stars26 February 2011Julie and JuliaMovie Under the Stars25 February 2012ChocolatMile of Pennies1 September 2012Dancing with the Starz13 October 2012This event was held successfully again in 2012, raising over $80,000.Dancing with the Starz follows a similar format to the hit Channel Seven TV Show and sees each of the contestants paired with a professional dance instructor.This year’s event included two performances, an open dress rehearsal and the main performance. Over 300 tickets were sold for the evening show. Both shows were emceed by Troy “Cooky” Cook, who was a big hit in 2009. Contestants included Goulburn’s Mayor, Geoff Kettle, Police Officer, Barb Beard, local Real Estate Agent, Justin Gay, and other local ‘celebrities’ Belinda Crookes, Rachel Woodman, Donna Calleja, John Bell, Jordan Wilcox.
