Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. Soroptimist International of Wichita, Kansas, Inc. (SI of Wichita) was founded in 1936.SI of Wichita has the following service projects aimed at fulfilling the SI mission of improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Our annual financial support for these programs is over $15,000!• Individual Grants to local women through the organization-wide Soroptimist Program, Live Your Dream Education & Training Awards for Women. The Live Your Dream Awards are are granted to local women who provide the primary financial support for themselves and their dependents, have financial need, and are attending an undergraduate degree program or a vocational skills training program.• Endowments at Wichita State University and WSU Tech providing annual financial grants to women heads of households furthering their education.• Grants to non-profits providing services to women. Local grants for 2022-2023 were awarded to Wichita Family Crisis Center, Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center, Wichita Childrens Home, and Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. International grants went to Kelly W. Davis Running International and Sisters In Pick, each providing funds to educate one girl for a year.• “Loves Me, Loves Me Not” bookmarks and posters. This outreach program promotes healthy relationships. The bookmarks are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese; the posters are English/Spanish. To date over 50,000 of these bookmarks have been distributed to schools, universities and other interested groups and individuals.
