My name is Sherle Rubin, affectionately known as "Lady Sherle, or Cowgirl Doc." I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner , Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, College Professor, Weight Management Consultant, Self-Healing and Trauma-Informed Coach. I am in my last year of residency in the Doctorate Program for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In additon, I have over 30 years of experience in mental health; making me an expert in my field. My journey towards self-healing began after a profound loss. In 2022, my 14-year-old grandson passed away in my arms, and my 33-year-old son led me on a path of introspection and transformation. After months of prayer and meditation, I found myself drawn to the "Bill Picket Rodeo," my first outing since that heart-wrenching event. It was there that I felt inspired to ride horses, determined to be an anomaly as a Black Cowgirl, despite the trauma and my age.I started my training and horseback riding at Greenfield Farm in South Carolina, a decision that would forever change my life. Here, I discovered a new Southern family and embarked on a journey of healing. My bond with my horse, Scooter, became a cornerstone of my recovery. As I was training skills, I noticed lack of representation and recognition for Black Cowgirls, a void I sought to fill. That's when I created "Those Black Cowgirls™," a space for African American women to ride, heal, and thrive, just like I did.Alongside horseback riding, I embraced yoga as an additional path to heal from my trauma. Witnessing the transformative power of these practices, I felt an intensified calling to help others in their healing journeys. My experience and specialty in mental health, coupled with my transformation, fueled my passion. This unique combination led to a desire to empower women. "Empowered Women to Empower Women."When I look back at my life, I often wonder how I made it as a 15-year-old mother, raised in the Brewster projects of Detroit, an alcoholic mother, and sexually abused my step-father I now understand God's gift in my life, my calling, and my purpose. I am called an "Angel With A Stethoscope."In 2023, I became a Certified Self-Healing and Trauma-Informed Coach, as well as a Certified Yoga Instructor. I am thrilled to support you on your unique self-healing journey.
