Dr. April Torrence is an innovative leader, researcher, grant writer, and mentor; often sought out to coach, consult, facilitate, analyze, and/or empower others to excel beyond their unlimited potential!For 27 years, she has been the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of her non-profit, Zion Education Center in Farrell, PA and has single-handedly secured over $2.5 million in funding to provide educational and employment opportunities for socio-economically disadvantaged families in the Mercer County region.In 2015, Dr. Torrence earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Instructional Management and Leadership from Robert Morris University and published "No Child Care Left Behind: An Ecological Approach to Reaching Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Preschool Students from a Global Perspective."In 2018, Dr. Torrence was inducted into the Farrell Alumni Hall of Fame for her contribution and commitment to her hometown. She has served as a consultant and field educator for Penn State University, Youngstown State University, Hope Academy for Autism, and Laurel Technical Institute. She also serves on various boards including The Global Sisterhood, The City of Hermitage Human Relations Commission, Primary Health Foundation and Butler County Community College Advisory Board.
