The Alternatives to Violence Project brings together diverse groups of people to build Dr. King’s nonviolent “beloved community.” Together, we will build a more peaceful and equitable world. AVP is committed to building an international movement of creative conflict resolution built on affirmation, respect for all, community, cooperation and trust. All facilitators and participants are volunteers and considered to be both teachers and students. AVP does not discriminate based on religion; all beliefs and faiths are respected. Together we can learn the necessary communication skills to resolve violence before it begins.AVP workshops seek to assist people in personal growth and change. We join together to explore our own experiences and ideas of violence and seek more satisfying ways to respond to, prevent and resolve conflict.
