Established in 2016, the Children's Advocacy Center d/b/a Children’s Advocacy Center Foundation (CACF) is dedicated to serving children who have been affected by child abuse and neglect. Our mission is to provide help and healing to these children and their families by providing them with the vital services they need.Through our Service Agreement with Clark County, the CACF provides supportive services to the children and families seen at the Southern Nevada Children’s Advocacy Center (SNCAC). Operated by Clark County, the SNCAC is part of a national movement of child advocacy centers that use a multi-disciplinary team approach in the prevention, assessment, investigation, and treatment of suspected cases of child sexual abuse and severe neglect. The dedicated professionals at the SNCAC form a comprehensive team that offers forensic interviewing services, child protective services, law enforcement collaboration, case management, victim and family advocacy, medical exams, and mental health services.Along with our community outreach, prevention, and advocacy efforts, the CACF has successfully implemented several programs designed to directly benefit children who have been abused. These include the Vegas Heals, Community Closet & Food Pantry, and Camp Thrive Las Vegas programs. In addition, the CACF engages in an annual back-to-school backpack and school supply drive and holiday stocking drive to benefit the children we serve. In response to the urgent need for mental health services for disadvantaged children and families who can't afford them, the CACF created the Vegas Heals program. This program ensures that child victims receive the continuum of care necessary to heal from child abuse trauma and achieve equitable outcomes. We provide support to victims who cannot afford services and help siblings and non-offending parents who experience trauma-related symptoms of their own. The goal of Vegas Heals is to not only heal the child but also heal the entire family. The Community Closet and Food Pantry program addresses the immediate needs of child victims and their families by providing essentials such as non-perishable food, hygiene, clothing, and other items. Often, the abuser is the primary source of income, and the non-offending parents, typically single mothers, struggle with socioeconomic stressors that hinder their ability to prevent abuse. Our support offers a reprieve as families figure out the next steps to prevent further victimization. In our ongoing efforts to support survivors of child sexual abuse, the CACF launched Camp Thrive Las Vegas during the summer of 2024, to benefit children, ages 10-14. To be held each year, this unique summer camp experience combines traditional camp activities with group therapy sessions. Camp Thrive Las Vegas aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for healing and growth.Together, the CACF and SNCAC work tirelessly to address the unique needs of the children and families they serve, ensuring a cohesive and impactful response to child abuse—one that is centered around the core principles of One Place, One Voice, One Response!
