St. Mary's Art Center is the longest operating 501(c)3 nonprofit in Storey County. Our mission is to support the arts, culture, and preservation of this historic property. Established in 1964 and incorporated in 1973, we have been home to artist retreats, classes, residencies, gallery exhibitions, historical tours, and more.Located in the former St. Marie Louise Hospital/Storey County Hospital, this 1876 historic property is a cornerstone of the history of Virginia City. We have four floors filled with art and history, including galleries, art library, art studio, printmaking studio, photography dark room, theatre, kitchens, and 15 guest rooms. We are home to artist, maker, writing, and women's retreats, plus private rentals for weddings, receptions, and other gatherings.
