Waka/Iwi/Hapu:Tainui; Ngati Maniapoto; Ngati MahutaAs a dual-registered clinician holding credentials as both a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Occupational Therapist, I bring over 25 years of specialized experience in mental health across New Zealand and the United Kingdom. My extensive clinical background spans pediatric services, secure psychiatric facilities, community mental health, and not-for-profit organizations, establishing a comprehensive foundation in trauma-informed care with particular expertise in addressing the impacts of sexual violence.My professional trajectory has evolved to encompass specialized competencies in neurodiversity-affirming practice, with particular emphasis on supporting individuals with ADHD and autism spectrum conditions. My current clinical focus examines the unique manifestations and treatment considerations of sexual trauma among autistic adults and adolescents, an area requiring specialized therapeutic approaches.My practice is guided by an integrative psychodynamic framework that synthesizes:- Transactional Analysis principles- Attachment Theory- Contemporary infant development research- Psychodynamic theory- Neurodevelopmental frameworks- Sensory integration approachesI maintain a dedicated commitment to neuroaffirming therapeutic practices, particularly in supporting autistic women through trauma recovery. My approach emphasizes sensory-informed interventions and adaptations that enable neurodivergent kiritaki to meaningfully engage with and benefit from psychotherapeutic processes.I currently serve as an ACC Sensitive Claims provider, delivering both treatment services and specialist assessments. Additionally, I provide cultural consultation and clinical supervision to practitioners working with neurodivergent populations.My ongoing research collaboration with autistic scholars has focused on developing best practices for "Autism in the Therapy Room."
