Tracy Gantlin-Monroy, MDiv, LPC, PhD Candidate, SE Practitioner, IFS trained, and the first Black female Brainspotting trainer in the world is at your service. Tracy is the resident therapist at Grace Community Counseling & Social Services, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia and passionate about the decolonization of mental health. She hosts Brainspotting trainings and healing retreats. Tracy is a social justice proponent, midwife to the BIPOC Brainspotting community, and is committed to inclusion of all people. Tracy developed the specialty training: Brainspotting: Intersectionality & Social Justice. She offers BIPOC Brainspotting Phase 1 training, BIPOC Brainspotting Phase 2 training, Inclusive Brainspotting Phase 1, and Inclusive Brainspotting Phase 2 training. Tracy continues to engage modalities with high efficacy to treat & heal trauma as a result of personal, generational, intergenerational, developmental, and communal soul injuries and traumatic experiences. The power-tool of Brainspotting encouraged her journey to add Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to the tool box recognizing the impact of trauma on the nervous system, body and the brain. The journey towards PhD continues to reveal explanation for many of her curiosities as an American Black woman as she engages the research and data. Much of what she has found is alarming while lending itself to hope. That hope continues to resonate with her call to humanity, all God's children. "With that being said, as a woman of color, I have an obligation to my ancestors to continue their work, perpetuate their kindness and love towards me, us. It is my ancestors, those that came before me, it is their shoulders in which I stand. Many of my ancestors did not have the privilege to read much less openly speak. I have those privileges and many more and with that, I will always edit my living epistle by offerings to community, the living embodiment of what that looks like for me." Thus the birth of UnBound Black Women Healing Retreat (Cancun, Mexico--July 20-24, 2023.)According to Tracy, "As a result of my clinical, spiritual, and humanitarian journey, the invitation to be a Brainspotting trainer was a game changer. Sitting with my mentor, Dr. David Grand, developer/founder Brainspotting, his tutelage provided a safe space to explore, learn and grow. Learning from Dr. Grand served as a percolator for my curiosities; I give grace, gratitude, and love to David at every opportunity, I became aware that healing is infinite and possible. Those curiosities fueled my journey. I continue to journey. And as I journey, I share, support, develop, heal and share what I gather with all in community. My goal is to leave the world better than I found it, train Brainspotters, focus on Black women's mental health, advocate for BIPOC spaces equipping marginalized clinicians of color with Brainspotting to serve their communities, provide inclusive space to welcome all clinicians challenging them to increase understanding of intersectionality (social locations/identities and how they overlap) with the hope of inclusion from a social justice perspective." -Tracy Gantlin-Monroy, healing facilitator (you have the power to heal your self, I am merely a tool, guide, to support your healing.)
