Moffat Community Nature Reserve was once a working quarry. In May 2009 it was offered for sale to the community and taken over by a trust who set about turning it into a haven for wildlife. It is now a wonderful, wild place to explore and reconnect with nature. The old weigh-bridge is now part of a wildflower meadow, and the sand pits have become wildlife pools.
