Ighiwiyisi Jacobs is a graduate of the Law faculty of the University of Lagos and an alumna of Queens’ College Lagos. She is the daughter of Erhabor Emokpae, one of the founding artists of the Nigerian art world. She followed in the footsteps of her mother to study law, an incident of nurture, but later followed her true nature by exploring and thriving in her creative side. She began her career by founding her interior design firm, I. Jacobs Bella Casa, in 2006. She then went on to elevate her career into set design for weddings in 2014 with Hermosa Boda, which means “beautiful wedding” in Spanish. Hermosa Boda was just the beginning. It went on to spread into commercial development in visual merchandising via multiple expressions of spatial creativity. She founded The Hermosa Design Company in 2017 which has now birthed a branch called Hermosa Galleria, popularly known as Gallery At The Landmark. A division of The Hermosa Design Company that is dedicated to the curation and display of works of art.Over the last ten years, Ighiwiyisi has built her career in Creative Directorship across both the artistic and technological spaces. Her recent appointment as Creative Director at Ilera Health cementing her drive towards excellence across various strata of enterprise.Ighiwiyisi dreams of an Africa that commands its place on the world stage. Her waking thought is to create works of art that stand toe to toe with celebrated works of art around the world. She is of the unshakable belief that Africa's greatest export is its people and strives daily to perfect both her art and her craft in order to display to as many as are willing to see, the brilliance, tenacity and excellence that is the African.
