The Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, and was founded in 1989. Operated primarily by volunteers, the museum provides numerous opportunities for adults and children, including school tours, field trips, workshops, lectures, community outreach and more. The museum is free to the public.The mission of the IMMG is to promote the education and understanding of the importance of mining and geological sciences to the development of Idaho. The Museum will access, develop, and maintain exhibits, collections, and activities pertaining to mining and geology in the Idaho region. The IMMG will maintain geologic expertise, knowledge of the mining industry in the state, and a vigorous set of education and outreach programs to citizens and visitors of Idaho.
