Central Region 2024 Fall Umpire Academy (4-Days)

The Central Region Umpire Academy is an intense, four-day experience that provides a comprehensive coverage of all aspects of umpiring for Little League Baseball and Softball. The days include a full range of experiences including plate mechanics, base mechanics, rules instruction, and rules application. Programming ensures a highly engaging and participatory experience with a variety of off-field and on-field exercises. All mechanics instruction will be demonstrated and practiced with critical and pointed feedback from instructors.

Students will have a final skills assessment to help develop their practice. Rules instruction will be scenario-based with video presentations to engage the learners. Whether you are new to the umpiring ranks or have had many years of experience, this Academy will ensure you have the most current, up-to-date, and approved mechanics and rules knowledge. This Academy provides the opportunity to network and talk baseball with other, like-minded Little League umpires and everything an umpire would need to be ready to go for the start of the Little League Baseball/Softball season.

Accommodations for all attendees include training materials and resources, daily lunch, hat, and a Central Region Umpire Academy shirt. Attendees are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and meals for breakfast and dinner.

All attending umpires should bring complete uniforms and equipment daily for participation. Attending umpires are asked to bring umpire shirts, gray pants, plate and/or base shoes, and all equipment necessary to umpire the plate and bases on a daily basis.

The Central Region Umpire Academy will be held at Central Region’s new complex located in Whitestown, IN. The academy will run four days beginning at 9AM EDT on Thursday and conclude by 1PM EDT on Sunday. All attendees are advised to arrive to the academy Wednesday evening in preparation for an early morning start on Thursday.

****Attendees will need to bring all of their umpiring equipment, uniform, and a glove. Housing, breakfast, and dinner is the responsibility of the attendee. Lunch will be provided. ****
