Community Human Services (CHS) aims to resolve homelessness and hunger in Allegheny County. We believe access to food, clothing, and shelter are basic human rights. Primarily funded by Allegheny County's Department of Human Services, CHS operates from a trauma-informed, housing-first, and harm-reduction perspective.We fulfill our mission through four collaborative departments: Housing, Shelter, Residential, and Community Programs. Each department boasts critical programs and initiatives to support individuals and families experiencing a housing crisis or food insecurity. The organization’s services include the operation of emergency shelters, housing case management and assistance, rapid and permanent housing, residential programs, community drop-in centers and programs, mental health services, and food accessibility.
