CONCEALMENT MECHANICS

Course Description:

An argument can be made that the draw is the single most important skill involved in the mechanical use of the defensive handgun. The vast majority of defensive gun uses end without a shot being fired, but even here, the gun must be deployed, yet most training classes focus minimally on this imperative skill. This course is designed to impart a high-level skillset in drawing the handgun from realistic concealment, consistently, safely, and with speed, under likely, possible, and adverse conditions.

Requirements:

• A complete understanding and command of safe gun handling and experience drawing from the holster.
• An auto-loading pistol and at least three magazines, or, a revolver and at least two speedloaders.
• 300 rounds of safe, reliable, factory manufactured ammunition.
• Eye and ear protection; active hearing protection is strongly recommended.
• A safe, quality, strong-side hip holster, on-the-waistband or inside-the-waistband, or a safe, quality, and specifically designed appendix carry holster. The holster must be custom fit to the specific gun model and made of kydex or stiff leather. The holster must stay open when the gun is withdrawn to facilitate safe re-holstering, and it must completely cover the trigger guard. No hybrid or Serpa Holsters.
• At least one belt-worn magazine or speedloader pouch to facilitate reloads.
• A concealment garment that facilitates a safe draw stroke, no tassels or draw strings.
• A packed lunch, plenty of water, and seasonally appropriate clothing.
