Leitrim Sculpture Centre (LSC) was established in 1997 as a charity to support the practice and understanding of the Fine Arts in Ireland. Based in Manorhamilton, a rural town at the hub of five glacial valleys in the NW of Ireland, the Centre provides one of the most comprehensive technical resources in the country for the creative development of new work across all contemporary arts media. The LSC Artistic Policy is guided by two central principles:a) Creative Development of the artist and art form by way of advancing technical skills and knowledge through innovative technique and material process, or by engaging new forms of exhibition, display and dissemination.b) Collaborative engagement of the artist and/or art form with changing landscapes, environments and places and the diverse cultures, communities, practices, material worlds and public fields of interest that compose them. These principles inform the aims of the organization which are to:support creativity, innovation and excellence in the productions and practices of contemporary visual arts.advance the material skills and knowledge of traditional and contemporary art making and the creative and professional development of artists.develop the collaborative potential of the art-form in its rural context through social and environmental arts based research and engagement.increase public access, participation and engagement in the arts.
