Waa-saa-bikidey(Waasaa) translates to “Shimmering“, for me this is an important piece of my identity because for me, nature is our family place so if you see us healing on the land, it is likely because something inspired me to get there, like a rock, a nest, a view of the beauty around, a challenge, or I am observing my children learn on the sovereign land of Turtle Island and Biigtigong. As well the Land heals; we are very fortunate. Thriving near Lake Superior literally means beaches everywhere including evidences of: sand.. raised beaches, ancient beaches, moss, caves, beauty beyond words at times. We are thankful and feel the love every time we are on the land and out in nature.Cultivating & integrating Land Based Learning and the use of multiple intelligences to accelerate belonging with the intent of wellness & health, and trauma informed, while making space for critical thought & in recognition of nation to nation relations and with good energies to sustain shared paths.Covid 19 showed how we need to get outside, and as so much more now.Waasaabikide Inc. willSpend more time on the Land & Water leading to cared stewardship & connections,Incorporate all learning methods as a means to build connections with specifics to TRC 66 is about reconciliation as all the Calls relate to the important priority areas set forth from all 94 Calls. This one in particular relates to programming and each reach into these areas: These 94 Calls to Action can be broken down into six categories: Child Welfare, Education, Language & Culture, Health, Justice, and Reconciliation using LBL or Land Based Learning to help support community and to help to grow strong and centred individuals and families. The Roots Structure is something I have developed and will be incorporating into my work moving forward.“A knowledge of history leads to understanding, and understanding leads to respect. Reconciliation follows.” – Justice Murray Sinclair”As a starting point Waassa will offer Zoom sessions, such as the other events listed..
