Celebration of Our MountainsAdventure Awaits in El Paso!Established in 1994 by UTEP geology professor Dr. Phil Goodell, Celebration of Our Mountains is dedicated to promoting outdoor adventure, education, and exploration in the greater El Paso and Southern New Mexico region. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we proudly offer a diverse range of free events focused on hiking, biking, birding, climbing, photography, geology, and archaeology.Beyond outdoor recreation, our events also explore human history, architecture, science, and technology, providing enriching experiences for participants of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or just beginning your journey into nature, our programs are designed to be both educational and recreational, fostering a deeper connection to the natural world.Our MissionWe aim to make outdoor experiences accessible to all by offering free events that celebrate nature, science, and history in the region’s stunning landscapes.Our StoryCelebration of Our Mountains was founded by Dr. Phil Goodell and a team of geology professors and students at UTEP. Over the years, it has evolved from a small club-style group into a thriving nonprofit organization, supported by dedicated board members, officers, volunteers, and donors.Our events are led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable experts, including geologists, biologists, ecologists, surveyors, medical professionals, historians, and veteran hikers. While our roots began in geology, we have expanded our focus to include all aspects of nature, climate, sky, and Earth history—with no boundaries on collaboration.
