The Cancer Support Team of Illinois (CST) was established in August 2019 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational resources, charitable assistance, guidance, and aftercare support for individuals affected by cancer. Our core mission is to motivate, empower, and assist individuals in underserved communities impacted by cancer by offering education, coordination, and support services through a compassionate team committed to serving with love, respect, and humility. At CST, our aftercare programs aim to address health inequalities in underserved areas by providing complimentary wigs, care packages, workshops, support group meetings, resource aid, educational initiatives, and compassionate support. Our commitment extends beyond cancer diagnosis to offer information, resources, and various community services to individuals from diverse backgrounds affected by cancer. The devoted team at CST is fueled by compassion, love, and a sincere desire to assist others, valuing humility, respect, and privacy as we accompany you on your journey. Our goal is to inform, organize, and enhance aftercare services to promote positivity, emotional well-being, community connections, and overall health for those impacted by cancer, emphasizing empowerment, resilience, and survivorship through comprehensive care and guidance.Educational endeavors at CST focus on delivering essential information on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options through workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to ensure individuals have access to the latest knowledge and resources to make informed health decisions. We offer a variety of aftercare initiatives to support cancer survivors and caregivers, including the Care Bear Program providing comfort bags, the Crowning Star Wig Program offering free wigs, the People Need Prayer initiative for spiritual support, and the "Put the 'T' in Talk" program for personalized pre- and post-cancer diagnosis assistance. Additionally, our virtual support groups aid survivors and caregivers in navigating diagnosis facts, envisioning health, and maintaining faith.CST's philanthropic efforts encompass a broad spectrum of resources, from educational materials and care bags to wigs, inspirational literature, positive affirmations, self-care strategies, and coping mechanisms. Emotional support is provided both individually and in group settings, complemented by a community patient navigator, while resource aid and survivorship support are integral elements of our holistic program.CST’s achievements include the development of tailored newsletters, brochures, and materials for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. CST’s Cancer Team Cares (CTC) provides care bags, wigs, financial aid, and support for cancer patients. Our future includes support stations in hospitals and services for underserved communities. The Community Navigator focuses on women managing work, parenting, and financial responsibilities. Financial support through sponsorships and donations is vital for sustaining aftercare services.
