The Sacred Way (Ιερά Οδός) is a reference to the road between Athens and Elefsina. In ancient Greece a journey along this road was led by the Cult of Demeter. This cult would participate in a yearly reenactment of the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone, and would encourage anyone of any class to participate in this journey through shadow and light. The myth involves a voyage of descent into the underworld where one encounters their shadows, followed by an ascent back into the Earthly realm, taking the learnings which occurred in this dark place and integrating them into life. The understanding being that contained within our shadows are the seeds of our growth, of our awakening. When we can be with these aspects of ourselves that we are most unwilling to face, we grow, we evolve and we may ascend out of this place, remerging as an initiated human. The intention of this practice was to ensure the health and evolution of the culture and the rest of life; believing that the work done on Earth was reflected outward into the Cosmos and vice versa.Dimitra is an artist and storyteller. Her work focuses on weaving people and places together; Facilitating an exploration of the innate creative and collaborative capacities contained within all of life and finding ways to encourage a deeper consideration of our individual and collective expression.She combines elements of her training in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Eastern Philosophy with Somatic Psychedelic Therapy, Permaculture, and Cosmic Ecology and Expressive Arts Therapy. She practices Qi Gong and is an official lineage holder in Taiji Quan.
