Dakaari means rejoice, happiness and joy! All the things that we hope you do and feel when you adorn yourself with one of our unique and luxurious essential oil-based fragrances. With Swahili origin, the name embodies the experience we seek to create with each bottle of thoughtfully and intricately curated scents. It is our desire that each fragrance, whether it be perfume or cologne, inspires in each individual, a new level of confidence in who they are! It is with this hope and love for her African heritage, that our founder Veronica Osei-Akoto Brown (Miss Vee) was inspired to create this new bespoke line of sophisticated fragrances. As a Ghanaian Canadian, Miss Vee, was struck by the lack of diversity that persists within the fragrance industry. Of the many thousands of fragrances that we enjoy and love, one would be hard pressed to find even a handful that have been created by Black/African/Caribbean perfumers. Regardless of the many reasons why this might be the case, Miss Vee believes that it’s time to change the narrative. With the belief that we must be the change that we want to see, it is Miss Vee’s goal not only to introduce the world to new essential and radiant fragrances, but to also inspire a new generation of Black Perfumers who will rise up with boldness to take the fragrance industry by storm.
