45th DeLoatch / DeLoach Family Reunion, Banquet, and Conference

DeLoatch / DeLoach Family will celebrates its 45th Anniversary on July 19 - 21, 2024 in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The 1977 TV miniseries, "Roots", based on Alex Haley's novel "Roots: The Saga of an American Family", stoked Lamar DeLoatch's interest in his heritage even more in 1979, he formally started his quest; becoming a genealogical compiler and researcher. He traced his paternal 7th great grandparents back to 1645 - to a castle in the Loire Valley of Maglan, France, and to Nigeria and the Balanta people in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Africa.

Lamar interviewed family members, traveled the Country and spent hours in the local county (Virginia & North Carolina) deed offices and libraries. He often had to use a magnifying glass to view archives and interpret writings such as Enslaved Cohabitation Records, Bills of Sales, and Agricultural Census Papers.

On Friday, July 19, 2024, the family will host a "Meet and Greet", to discuss the Family History. It will be held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, 50 Kingsmill Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. Lamar will be the guest speaker at the "Meet & Greet".

Saturday, July 20th from 8 am to 4 pm, the Family will conduct a Conference / Workshop event. There will be 8 sessions, a guest speaker, as well as family activities. At the conclusion of the workshops, all family members are invited to attend a family business meeting.
