Maria Pia Jaime was born in Argentina’s border with Paraguay, Formosa in 1976.After living in several cities she settled in London in 2008.Pia is an Interdisciplinary artist and a self-taught photographer, working with printmaking, drawing, building materials, specialising in site-specific projects and photography. Her work varies in scale from very small pieces to large installations, drawing ideas on neurodiversity, mental health and feminism.Pia is also a passionate Educator, a Community project leader and she teaches Photography at Brit Kids, Brit School in Croydon.Recent collaborations and commissions include: “I see you”, a Photography curatorial project championing the work of carers, taking place in Fringe Bath Arts in May 2023 and “This is where we live”, cover illustration published by Harper & Collins.In 2022 Pia completed her first Public Art commission. The Fabric of Society is a large-scale mural which combines Photography and mosaic techniques and community workshops with BAME groups that later informed the final design. The mural is installed in St. Nicholas Shopping Centre in Sutton.
