Katy McManus is a self-taught artist born in the United States, shaped by the mentorship of her grandfather (DzaDzi), a US Marine Captain who imparted lessons of discipline & resilience. Katy immigrated from Indonesia & is focused on establishing her artistic career in Australia. Endeavouring to do so with an open mind & heart while cultivating respectful, harmonious, & mutually beneficial relationships with the local culture & art communities.Katy has been shaped by her experiences & encounters. Having visited many different countries, she has developed a unique perspective on the complexities of human existence. These adventures have had a profound impact on her worldview & artistic perspective.As an artist, Katy's work is deeply personal & introspective. She draws from her own experiences & observations to create art that is both intimate & thoughtful. Her paintings & stories are infused with a sense of mystery, empathy & compassion, born from her own encounters with people from diverse backgrounds.Katy's experimental techniques with gilding, charcoal, pastels, oil paints & textiles is a reflection of her own growth & exploration as a person. Her art is characterized by its honesty, vulnerability, & sensitivity. Through her work, she invites viewers to share in her experiences & perspectives, inviting them to reflect on their own lives & connections with others through original characters, lore, mythologies & dogmas.With a deep respect for the human experience, Katy's art is a testament to the power of storytelling & the importance of human connection. Her work reminds us that even with all of man’s differences, we are all connected through our shared experiences & emotions.
