We are all born with a wild imagination. It is through this unlimited creative resource that we can access the unconscious, connect with our intuition, develop a greater degree of self-awareness and expand our sense of possibility.
Fire Your Wild Imagination will be a chance to explore this vast inner intelligence through a transformative writing practice grounded in Jungian depth-psychology and neuroscience led by Dr Rachel Newsome in the beautiful surroundings of the cork woods of Monte da Japonica, Alentejo, South Portugal. It will be a rejuvenating time of exploration and connection, writing and reflection, sharing and responding to inspiring texts, spending time in nature and enjoying meals together around the Monte da Japonica kitchen table. Stay in one of many stylish single or double rooms.
The focus of the retreat will be on process, rather than outcome, and on what comes up in the writing, rather than craft, skills and technique. This means that you don’t need any previous writing experience to benefit from the retreat and there will be no pressure to read anything out.
Rachel Newsome, PhD is a Jungian-based writer and teacher. She has a background in both the media and academia as a former Editor of the arts & culture magazine Dazed & Confused and a lecturer with twenty years’ experience teaching creative arts subjects, respectively. Rachel holds a doctorate in applying Jungian psychoanalysis to creative writing and is passionate about sharing her experience & expertise with others in an accessible, inclusive and heart-centred way. She leads numerous depth-writing courses, workshops & retreats, in addition to mentoring writers & creative practitioners and loves to dive deep.
