Friendship in the Feld: Empowering Growth in Early YearsI am Meggie Rodman and although I am from the United States, I have spent my life between Utah and Germany. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and have worked with children from infants to teens in a variety of therapeutic, educational, and recreational settings for the past 12 years. I’m passionate about teaching children to navigate their world with confidence and kindness, and creating spaces of learning where every child and family feels welcomed and valued.I am Raela Goodfriend from Oregon, US and have been living in Berlin 9 years. I have a professional Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and have been teaching and creating nurturing spaces for international families in both kita and school for the past 8 years. I am passionate about empowering children through creativity and inquiry.Together, we are Friendship in the Feld. An early childhood development program providing play-based educational workshops for ages 1-6. Through sensory experiences, art exploration and child-led play, we aim to support social-emotional learning and help develop community and school readiness skills. We value the role of the caregiver in a child’s education. Therefore, in addition to our Early Years Workshops, we offer “My Grown Up and Me” sessions. These sessions offer opportunities for caregivers to bond with their child and learn creative strategies to foster their growth at home. We strive to create an international community where friendships can grow between parents. In order to support the caregiver, we offer one to one consultation as well as parent seminars. It can be difficult to navigate Berlin‘s early education system, and we strive to help bridge the gap between home and Kita life. We also explore topics related to points of tension in the home, to include behavioral stressors and family routines. Our experience as preschool teachers working in the international school system sparked our passion for professional development and empowering other early childhood educators. We are happy to offer workshops regarding adaptable lesson planning, conscious discipline, or routine and transition planning. We love circle time and love to take the difficulty out of one of the best times of the day!
