The mission of Pet Kōkua by Hawaiian Humane Society is to keep pets and their people together & improve the quality of life for all animals by providing assistance to those who are in need.Pet Kōkua programs provide vital outreach assistance for the prevention of owner surrender, animal cruelty, neglect, and pet overpopulation through low- to no-fee spay/neuter & vaccination, pet food, microchipping, and educational initiatives in our community.The Hawaiian Humane Society'sPet Food Bankis located in our Ginny Tiu Community Spay/Neuter Center and is open Tu & F from 10 am-1 pm. We also have a Pet Food Bank at Child & Family Service in 'Ewa Beach, which is open Su & M from 9 am - 12 pm. Run by generous donations from our community, it provides temporary assistance to those in need of pet food, litter, and more.On July 1, 2020, microchip identification became mandatory for cats & dogs over the age of four months. Hawaiian Humane offerslow or waived-fee microchippingfor pet owners on government assistance or those who are experiencing homelessness. Microchips are available during special events or by appointment.Reduced or waived-fee spay & neuter servicesare available through Hawaiian Humane Society's Ginny Tiu Community Spay/Neuter Center. If a District 9 resident, please call 808-931-0596 for appointment assistance.TheEducation teamoffers presentations to adults and students about responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, animal welfare, Petiquette and more.
