In 2024, the Oceanus Trio, gave its debut "Concert in C" featuring a program themed around the key of C: Beethoven's Piano Trio in c-minor, Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy in C-Major, Tchaikovsky's Valse-Scherzo in C-Major etc. This year, thanks to Hong Xiang's penchant for rhymes in concert titles, they have put together yet another fun program featuring a Schubert's sunny piano trio no.1, Faure's funky piano trio and a selection of other delightful miniatures from Faure.Gabriel Ng, ViolinA graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Gabriel has won prestigious awards and prizes in the Yehudi Menuhin Competition and the Singapore International Violin Competition. As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He has also recorded and released a critically acclaimed CD of Elgar’s Violin Concerto. An avid chamber musician, his chamber groups have performed at esteemed venues including Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall. After spending some time abroad, Gabriel is thrilled to be back in Singapore, and excited to explore more repertoire with Oceanus Trio. Gabriel plays on a 1909 Francesco Guadagnini violin generously loaned to him from the Rin Collection.Hong Xiang, PianoBetween coaching students at his studio and working on music, Hong Xiang occasionally organises and performs in concerts. In 2023, he gave two solo recitals that included virtuoso pieces such as Prokofiev's 8th piano sonata and Kapustin's concert etude no.6. In 2024, he was invited to give a lecture-recital at Bechstein (Singapore) in collaboration with their director, Ralf Dewor, discussing the relationship between pianists and their instruments. Also last year, in "Concert in C" Hong Xiang played Schubert's technically demanding Wanderer Fantasy.Hong Tzin, CelloAs a cellist, Hong Tzin has been a member of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra. He has performed on international stages in China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, as well as in Singapore’s Esplanade and Victoria Concert Hall. In addition to his performances, Hong Tzin has mentored his peers and shared insights gained from his past experiences as part of the Raffles Chamber Ensemble. Demonstrating his versatility as a musician, Hong Tzin has also explored new instruments and genres, including performing as a bass guitarist with his pop band at NUS.
