The theme of the 2024 edition of the event is Building Resilient Futures: Integrating Carbon Neutrality, Circular Economy, and Inclusive Urban Development.
This theme encompasses the key principles of:
Carbon reduction through renovation and lifecycle emissions management,
Resilience in housing and community adaptation,
Circularity by reducing construction waste and resource use,
Water conservation and equitable access, biodiversity through nature-based solutions,
Health improvement across building and city environments, and
Equity in access to sustainable homes and communities.
Green Building Council Nigeria (GBCN) is a member of the World Green Building Council (World GBC). As such, it is part of a network of over seventy national green building councils from all over the world, fifteen of them located in Africa. GBCN was established in 2010 to address the built environment’s role in climate change, environmental pollution, and natural resource depletion.Our mission is “To lead the transformation of Nigeria’s built environment to create buildings and communities that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable through engagement and partnerships with all green building stakeholders.”
