Angela Blacklaw is an accomplished multi-genre songwriter-producer-artist. Her first album -"The Scale of Love and Destruction"- contains productions reminiscent of Bjork, Portishead, Depeche Mode and Massive Attack, and the haunting lyrics bring to mind Kate Bush, Imogen Heap and Stevie Nicks. She crafted this unique experimental sound with a chilled lounge vibe and floating vocals, undercut by effects that send shivers down your spine while intriguing lyrics reveal something darker.She has also released her songs as one half of production duo Kaleidogroove:"Kaleidoscope Visions"is a collection of varied genres and voices - ranging from funk to Latin House - all tied together by the rich and irresistable power of groove.Her most recent album -"Gin And Regret"- is a more stripped back project, featuring more acoustic instrumentation and having a more traditionally jazzy feel.Angela is also a soprano in the acclaimedMike King Collective, one of the UK's premier contemporary vocal groups combining soulful vocals, rich jazz harmonies and captivating performances. MKC has recorded for the BBC, performed live on Channel 4, sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe and worked with some of the music industry’s biggest names including Mark Ronson, Florence + the Machine, Lily Allen and GRAMMY® world music artist Angelique Kidjo.A teacher and module on theMA in Songwritingat the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance, Angela is an expert on creative process and has a research interest in the application of Jung's archetypes to songwriting.She is currently working on her next project: a set of four EPs entitles"Lilies"on several aspects of death (a topic that people are often uncomfortable with, so Angela is looking to change that, one song at a time...)
