Leadworks is an independent not-for-profit CIC, run and staffed by volunteers. We offer our space (6000 square feet), time and facilities at affordable prices (and free where we can) to individuals and organisations of Plymouth; supporting their needs and explorations within the arts, culture and music scene. We organically grew the organisation to fit and shape around the needs of the community, constantly changing our offerings to the needs that are required while establishing a reliable, safe space for everyone in the community, including neurodivergent, neurotypical, disabled, LGBTQ+, etc, equally and with respect.Leadworks is an exciting and innovative social enterprise that thinks outside the box. Created in 2019 when the need for more creative, flexible, and accessible spaces for grassroots arts and community organisations was realised, Leadworks is focused on community connection and transformation for all.Our doors house a cafe and bar, a public living room and library, a community fridge, affordable artists’ studios, a maker’s area, a music and performance stage, meeting and workshop rooms, a cinema space, and two incredible exhibition spaces. We’re proud to have created an open, dynamic and welcoming space that celebrates difference and connection. The future plan for Leadworks is to continue its organic growth guided by the community and our learning through running many pilot projects over the past five years, identifying areas that need development and funding. We have realised that Leadworks must offer and facilitate more to enable community connection and have further positive intergenerational development for the individuals and their surrounding community to grow and learn.
