I was born in a culture where self-expression was not encouraged. I grew up thinking thatmy thoughts, what I love and my ideas didn’t matter. Art had to look a certain way and it was for the selected few. For me art was usually a picture painted by someone many years ago. I was not interested in making anything like this. When I was 30 years old, I experienced burnout. To recover, I had to find out who I really was and separate that fromwho I thought I should be. I started a new journey. I became a life-coach, travelled the world and turned my life around. I ran workshops and supported people on their journey to authenticity. One day, when I was living in Hawaii, I met a greatart teacher. She gave me paints and said: paint what you love! No instructions, no teaching, she was just holding the space. So I did and I loved it. I was so joyful discovering this new feeling of excitement in me. That was the beginning. Since then I have studied art in art programs that supported a free and playful way of making art. They were focused on finding my own creative voice while learning about principles like design, color theory etc.Today I paint daily. In my art practice I connect with what I love and I express it. I use different materials, I learn by exploring and playing. There is a flow, fun and joy. I always create something that's meaningful for me.I have discovered that this way of entering the world of art and creativity works for many other people and that'swhy I offer my workshops. You can come and have fun, relax and enjoy. But maybe you come and discover the joy of creating something meaningful for you. You never know where this journey takes you."Art is a very vulnerable and beautiful way of being in this world. It allows us to discover who we are and express it."LucieTo see my art and connect with me, find me on my Instagram @luciecarthy or email me through Eventbrite.
