The Elgar Chorale, founded in 1980 by Dr Donald Hunt, is a mixed voice chamber choir of up to 40 singers, may of whom are professional musicians. Musical Director Piers Maxim oversees a busy annual programme of concerts across Worcestershire and beyond. The Chorale participates in leading roles in some of the region’s premier music festivals, and delights in performing at weddings, Civic occasions and charitable events. Invites have also been extended from Germany, France and South Africa, resulting in successful tours in those countries and also the English South West.Under the leadership of Dr. Hunt the choir gained a reputation for the quality and variety of its performances, and is particularly renowned for its interpretation of music by the English composer after whom it is named. Under the guidance of Piers Maxim the choir’s extensive repertoire is ever expanding, and the Chorale is proud to curate one of the largest music libraries in the region.
