Hey, I'm Matt Defina, the driving force behind Another Way.At 29, I found myself in a seemingly perfect life as a qualified Organisational Psychologist, living in Elwood and working at mental health charity, The Man Cave. Over the past 10 years, I’d embarked on soul-searching adventures across the world, checking off incredible experiences along the way.I had completed an Ironman Triathlon, trekked to Mt Everest Base Camp, scuba dived around the world and even sought inner peace through a 10-day silent meditation retreat (Vipassana). It seemed like I had it all together as I approached my 30s, ready to dive back into corporate consulting to increase my earning capacity.But then, something shifted within me.I was in Byron Bay in 2021 at a friends birthday party, which he’d turned into a 3 day Rite of Passage retreat. Sitting on the couch, I finally allowed myself to slow down after years of running towards an ever-elusive future. Exhausted and feeling far from complete, I couldn't continue pretending that everything was okay. I couldn't envision spending another 50 years on an endless treadmill, constantly striving to prove my worth.In that moment, I made a decision that changed my life.I chose never to abandon myself again. I embraced authenticity and vowed to always act from a place of service—to myself and others. I started questioning everything I thought I knew and discovered that much of it simply wasn't true.I embarked on a journey to find Another Way - a path that would bring genuine fulfilment, richness, and meaning. No more pretending or conforming to societal expectations. I surrounded myself with kindred spirits who also sought truth and authenticity and demanded the same of me.Now, I'm here, eager to work with individuals and groups who share the same desire for an extraordinary life. Together, we'll create a space where we can explore authentically, challenge norms, and discover your unique path to fulfilment.
