Hi, I’m Melanie, the founder of Finding Eden. The story behind this healing arts center is one that comes from a place of deep pain and, ultimately, profound transformation. My journey has been shaped by many of life’s darkest moments—surviving sexual abuse, enduring domestic violence, battling PTSD, and even facing the harsh reality of homelessness. Through these trials, I found one undeniable truth: traditional therapy, often seen as the go-to solution, was an option I simply couldn’t afford.During my most difficult days, I knew something had to change. I was desperate for healing, but the support I needed seemed out of reach. That’s when I discovered the power of alternative pathways to recovery—dance, art, music, and holistic practices. These healing arts became my lifeline, guiding me back to myself, helping me find my voice, my strength, and my sense of worth. I realized that healing doesn’t always come in a conventional form. Sometimes, it comes in a dance, a brushstroke, or the rhythm of a song.This realization sparked the creation of Finding Eden. I founded this nonprofit healing arts center with one clear purpose: to make healing accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Through art therapy, music therapy, somatic movement, and other holistic practices, I want to offer transformative experiences that help others reconnect with their true selves, just as I did. Finding Eden is not just a place; it’s a movement, a vision of a world where everyone has the chance to heal, grow, and thrive.
