I'm Jennifer Desserich, the founder and president of Dignify Dementia. This effort is truly a labor of love for me, as it was inspired by my late father, Jim, who passed away from Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism in early 2024. Motivated by his diagnosis and my professional background in public health, I committed to building this organization. As a child, I gained a profound appreciation for the wisdom and experiences of older adults during the time I spent with my grandparents and their large community of family and friends. This allowed me to understand the significance of graceful and independent aging, emphasizing the importance of treating each senior as a unique individual and an active participant in their own care. Observing my own parents' aging process has only reinforced the idea that this vulnerable population warrants our patience, advocacy, and opportunities to thrive as they grow older. Please commit to supporting our mission of being an organization that empowers individuals living with dementia and their care communities by providing free resources, customizable toolkits, and skills-based solutions to enhance daily organization, independence, and communication with healthcare providers. Through education, awareness, and community outreach—both online and in person—we strive to support, uplift, and connect those affected by dementia.
