I've been 'performing' music since my childhood; first, as a boy soprano in a church choir in Burlington, Ontario, and continuing into my teen years. As a high school student in the late 1960s on Vancouver Island, I began playing at local coffee houses, concert venues, and had original songs playing on the local radio station, in Courtenay. This continued during the 1970s, with coffeehouse and restaurant venues in Vancouver, and throughout British Columbia. After moving to Toronto in the 1980s, I had the pleasure of playing the Burlington Music Festival, Hamilton's Festival of Friends, and reprised a performance for the 2023 festival. I've created and participated in several concert series with global and local musicians in Toronto and Waterloo Region. In addition to being an educator in the 1990s until my recent retirement from teaching at a college, I facilitated music workshops, songwriting seminars, and taught a course in traditional folk music at my private studios, Tweed Folk Music, in Waterloo and Blue Northern Music Studios in Kitchener.
