Urban FibersareTau PibernatandVera Castelijns, a textile design duo that investigates and implements sustainable local textile production. They research the activation of local cotton waste garments as valuable raw material and produce upcycled yarns. These yarns are optimised for the existing regional textile infrastructure of digital weaving, knitting, and braiding machines. With this focus on regional collaborators and harvesting the colours directly from the waste, they want to revolutionise the notion of local, regenerative textiles. Urban Fibers collaborates with local producers, networks of re-use and education. At the moment, Urban Fibers are running a long term collaboration with the Ghana based charityThe Or Foundationand preparing an exhibition in Saarland.
