Performing since its inception in 2018, the Phoenix Brass Collective (PBC) is a group of eighteen professional brass and percussion musicians who share a drive for playing concerts at the highest quality, and are equally passionate about educating the next generation of musicians. As part of its mission to bring the best brass performances to as many people as possible, PBC has performed concerts throughout the Phoenix-Metro area including communities in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Sun City, Avondale, Chandler and Fountain Hills. Expanding reach further, they also regularly create content for social media pages on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.Phoenix Brass Collective membership is made up of the leading free-lance, professional players in the Phoenix area. They regularly perform in groups including, but by no means limited to, the Phoenix Symphony, Tucson Symphony, Arizona Opera, Arizona Philharmonic, Phoenix Theatre, Arizona Broadway Theatre, Extreme Decibel Big Band, and the New Guard Big Band. Most of the players have doctoral and master’s degrees in music and have subsequently sought professions as educators. They serve the greater Phoenix area by teaching in a number of elementary, middle, and high schools. Several are also on the faculties at a number of Arizona colleges, including ASU, NAU, GCU, MCC, CGCC, SCC, SMCC, PC, and GCC. PBC members regularly offer their service as clinicians at a number of schools and colleges throughout the state.Moreover, Phoenix Brass Collective is actively engaged in training and inspiring young musicians by holding international solo competitions, creating free instructional video content, and teaching/performing live masterclasses. Another mission objective is to encourage and commission composers, both developing and seasoned, to write new works for brass and to arrange existing favorites from orchestral, jazz and movie scores, for instance, for the ensemble. To that end they have performed dozens of new and newly arranged works, many of which have been written by members of the Phoenix Brass Collective.
