TheWill County Children's Advocacy Centerrelies on private and public grants, donations, and the popular12th Annual MEN WHO COOKfundraiser to provide our critical services.When children make an outcry of abuse,multidisciplinary teams (MDT)comprised of law enforcement, prosecutors, DCFS investigators, forensic interviewers, child & family advocates, trauma therapists, and medical personnel provide:Forensic Interviews|Family Advocacy|Trauma-Focused Therapy|Medical Exams|Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Victim Services|Paws-4-Kids Comfort DogsLast year, theWill County Children's Advocacy Centerserved700+Will County children (and their non-offending family members) who were sexually abused, severely physically abused, sexually exploited/trafficked, or who had witnessed a violent crime.The problem of child abuse isNOTinsurmountable. Every day we see children who have lived through terrible abuse or who have witnessed terrifying violence, reclaim their childhood. Children who have been victimized, but receive services at theWill County Children's Advocacy Centerare less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol, grow up to become victims of domestic violence, become involved in criminal activity, suffer from depression, anxiety disorders, or post-traumatic stress disorder, and/or develop suicidal ideation and self-harm.We rely on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to provide our critical services -- at no charge to children and families in need.
