The aluminum can industry is growing in the U.S., with several new alumium rolling mills and beverage can manufacturing plants coming on-line in the next few years. This course is focused on understanding the materials and processes that are important to the can making industry. Specifically, the course discusses common alloys, microstructure evolution during rolling, and how the process can affect quality aspects such as defects, earing behavior, and tensile properties. The course instructor will be Dr. Scott Goodrich, who recently retired from Constellium after an illustrious career.
