The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a group of Greater Birmingham area high school students who are dedicated to the mission of keeping families together when they need it most. Students are empowered to make an impact on RMHCA guest families through four key areas: advocacy, fundraising, promotion, and volunteer service.Membership in the SLC is highly selective and is determined through a competitive application process consisting of an online application, recommendation letters, and in-person interview. Selected students are passionate about our mission, and work together to benefit families while cultivating their own leadership skills, philanthropic spirit, and self-confidence. They are motivated to take initiative, and lead with empathy and compassion – always keeping RMHCA guest families top-of-mind as they plan fundraising events, family activities, and awareness campaigns.
