GambleRogers Memorial State Recreation Area and North Peninsula State Park at Flagler Beach are two beautiful beachside parks located on a barrier island and nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the IntraCoastal Waterway.  The beach is the most popular feature of these parks, where visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing at these quiet and serene locations.  The daily low tide is the ideal time to observe shorebirds feeding in the tidal ponds and summer months bring sea turtles that lay their eggs in the golden-brown sand.On the Intracoastal Waterway side of Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area, a quiet boat ramp leads guests into a boat basin that manatees frequent during summer months.  Visitors may rent kayaks and canoes or participate in a kayak tour to explore the beautiful salt marsh ecosystem.  Picnic pavilions provide a place for visitors to enjoy a meal and nature trails wind their way through shady coastal forest of scrub oaks and saw palmettos.  Butterflies congregate on the parks' newest attraction; a beautiful butterfly garden sponsored and built by the Friends of Gamble Rogers, a non-profit group of local individual supporters of the park.Amenities include: Camping/RV sites, kayaking/canoeing, fishing, crabbing, boating, bycicle rentals, butterfly garden, birding, pavilions, beach access with facilities, nature trails, monthly programs, special events and volunteer opportunities.  Reservations may be made for the full service campground at ReserveAmerica.com or by calling Reserve America at (800) 326-3521.  The park is located at 3100 S.
