The North London Sinfonia (formerly the Tudor Orchestra) is a long-established, intrepid and friendly amateur orchestra based in North Finchley, North London. We are open to musicians of all ages (no audition required) and play under the guidance of a professional conductor, leader and principal cello. The orchestra provides a friendly and supportive environment for musicians to develop their skills and prides itself on its adventurous programming. We generally play more adventurous repertoire than a typical community orchestra and each concert includes a concerto with a (generally young) professional soloist. Recent programmes have featured Beethoven Symphony No.1, Debussy's Prélude à l'àprès-midi d'un faune, Sibelius Symphony No.3 as well as concertos by Stanford, Prokofiev, John Ireland, Barber, Elgar and Ravel. We have also 'resurrected' several forgotten and rarely-played works by Vaughan Williams, Sibelius, Roussel, Gade, Berwald, Kalinnikov and Suk.
