The Southside Virginia representative chapters consist of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. recognizing the need for coordination of activities of Alumni Greek-Lettered fraternities and sororities and recognizing that there are certain areas of actions and programming that can best be carried out by the joint efforts of all such organizations and believing that these needs can best be realized by a formal organization, bind ourselves to form the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. of Southside Virginia. All financial members of a chapter belonging to a local NPHC Council are considered active members of the Council. We strongly encourage all members to support the activities of the local NPHC of Southside Virginia in addition to their individual chapter roles and responsibilities. Together we can have a greater impact on the communities we serve, especially in the areas of Education, Economics, Social Action, Political Empowerment, and Health. We thank you for your support of the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Southside Virginia and wish you continued success. The stated purpose and mission of the organization in 1930 was "Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations." Early in 1937, the organization was incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois and became known as "The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated."The Goals of the NPHC of Southside Virginia are as follows:•Increase active participation of all affiliate chapters in the Southside Virginia Counties.•Increase visibility and involvement of the Southside Virginia NPHC among external community ("non-Greek"; professional, community-based, health and academic organizations).•Recognize the achievements of Southside Virginia Counties local youth in the areas of scholarship and service.•Create opportunities for disadvantaged youth in the Southside Virginia Counties by holding educational forums that promote training in employ-ability skills and self-awareness.•Foster an environment that engages chapter presidents, educates their delegations, and informs the general membership of the affiliate NPHC organizations.•Provide social and professional and/or personal development opportunities for NPHC Southside Virginia membership.
