DMV Kiki Nights is a community based platform amplifying queer talent and building intercultural exchange in DC. Our work consists of cultural curation, artist development, and LGBT+ wrap-around services. Curatorially, we produce house balls, host exhibitions, and facilitate critical discourse around queer expressive traditions. We represent ethnically-diverse, early-stage, queer artists in dance, music and fashion who hail from DC and the broader DMV community between Baltimore and Richmond. Our development curriculum includes brand strategy, portfolio critique, technical classes, and freestyle/jam sessions. We understand the holistic needs of our community members to be intertwined with their artistry. We consistently find a scarcity of queer-affirming spaces accessible to working-class and dis/abled experiences, accordingly our cornerstone service is safe space, for only in a moment of rest can comprehensive needs assessment be conducted at which point we offer referrals to resume assistance, name change assistance, shelter/housing assistance, sti testing, hormones, and professional clothing.
